Go Green with Silestone®

Silestone is 100% committed to the environment. At every manufacturing stage, from the mining of the natural stone to the installation, including the manufacture, Silestone respects and protects the environment.

Silestone constantly invests in new technology that decreases emissions to the atmosphere and maximises recycling. They address considerable resources to the creation systems that ensure the protection of the environment and work to become in environmental responsibility leaders. Silestone products do much more than just meeting industrial requirements; they comply with the expectations of an environmentally-aware society.

Here are just a few of the ways Silestone is helping the environment:

  • Decrease in emissions: the manufacturing process uses air monitors reducing the generation of dust.
  • Water treatment: 98% of the water used in the manufacture of Silestone products is recycled water.
  • Quarry restoration: the Silestone reforestation plan makes it a leader in the field.
  • Exploitation of materials: unlike granite, where only 30% of the mined material is used, Silestone quartz products use all the elements.
  • Air quality in closed areas: the GreenGuard certificate demonstrates that Silestone quartz and granite products do not generate any harmful substance after the installation process.
  • Recycled materials: 35% recycled glass is used in the colors in the Stellar series.
  • Commitment: Cosentino by Silestone complies with all environmental regulations as well as with market and society demands.

Go Green with Corian®

Corian, its adhesives and its sealants have been testing by the GreenGuard Environmental Institute, and have surpassed their requirements for indoor air quality and low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Here are just a few of the ways Corian is helping the environment:

  • Renewable: Corian can be restored to its original state using a green Scotch-Brite pad and an ordinary abrasive cleaner. More severe damage can even be repaired on-site.
  • Hygenic: Unlike tile or wood, Corian has no visible pores or voids so it does not promote the growth of mold, mildew or bacteria. When Corian looks clean, it really is.
  • Inert, non-toxic and hypoallergenic: Corian doesn't react with other chemicals or elements, and is non-toxic and hypoallergenic in normal room temperatures.
  • Environmentally responsible: Corian is non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, and chemically non-reactive. It does not decompose over time or contaminate ground or water resources, so it does not affect nearby vegetation when it is discarded in a landfill.
  • GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified: Corian, its adhesives and its sealants have been tested by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, and have surpassed their requirements for indoor air quality and low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
  • Contributing to Green Building Design: The U.S. Green Building Council developed the LEED Green Building Rating System as a standard for designing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Since Corian is a long-lasting, easily repaired material that emits low VOCs, it can help your project earn LEED points in several categories.
